"Leland Air" A Plein Air Event

The Leelanau Community Cultural Center at the Old Art Building is hosting a one-day Plein Air Painting Event and Exhibit on Saturday, May, 25, 2013. From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, artists will be painting in and around picturesque Leland capturing images of historic Fishtown, views of orchards and vineyards, spectacular terrain, and beautiful beaches.

A reception and sale of paintings "fresh off the easel" will take place from 6 to 8:30 and is open to the public. 40% of art sales will be donated to the Old Art Building. Prizes for best of show and people's choice will be awarded. There is no ticket charge for the reception but donations are greatly appreciated.

Artists will register for 8:00 to 10:00 am and then go to the location they have choosen to paint. At 4:00pm they will submit their paintings(s) for the show. Artists interested in this plein air event can register at www.oldartbuilding.com or by calling 231-256-2131.

Women: Reflect, Rejoice, Reform

The Jordan River Arts Council (JRAC) announces Women:  Reflect, Rejoice, Reform, a multi-media juried show of visual and performance art (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, fiber, ceramics, music, poetry, narrative and drama).   The show is to be held at East Jordan Arts Council, East Jordan, MI from October 6, 2013 to November 1, 2013.  Artists working in all media (visual and performance art) are invited to address the theme of women in the U.S. and the world.  For more detailed information, contact Yasmin Richmond at yasminmody@yahoo.com.
