Squared and Squared Again--Big and Little

The Jordan River Arts Council’s first exhibit of the 2012 year is Squared and Squared Again—Big and Little will be February 12 through March 16 challenging area artist.

The challenge is:
Each artist is invited to create two works of art using the following criteria.
—Use of the square in your work is required. Any other shape is optional.
—The concept of big and little to be used.
—Can be related or not.
—The big and little concept can be in included within one work.
—Any media and theme accepted.
—2 or 3 dimensional
—Abstract, Realistic or Non Objective.

All works should be brought to the Jordan River Art Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan. Sunday February 5, 1:00—4:00 pm or Monday February 6, 2:30—6:00 pm.

ART OF THE SLEEPING BEAR DUNES

ART OF THE SLEEPING BEAR DUNES:
A Juried Fine Art Publication & Exhibition


Artists have been drawn for decades to the majestic beauty and ever-changing landscape of the Sleeping Dear Dunes, inspired to interpret the diversity and vastness of this region in every season.

Leelanau Press, in conjunction with the Dennos Museum Center, Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan, invites artists to participate in a juried fine art competition that will result in the publication of a color, large format, hardcover book and an exhibition at the Dennos Museum Center. The book release and exhibition are scheduled for September 2013.

America’s Parks Through the Beauty of Art

This exhibition competition is open to all artists, the purpose of which is to recognize and promote excellence in original artworks depicting any park (national, state, provincial, county, city) in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.  Eligible media include oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, mixed media, pastel, pencil, pen and  ink, tempera, batik, alkyd, scratchboard, and original prints (lithograph, etching, engraving, serigraph); original, two-dimensional works only.  The entry deadline is August 31, 2012.  For more information, contact David J.
